This series of drawings was made in response to specimens in the Natural History collections of Edinburgh University, particularly the delicate corals and molluscs. I was interested in how these complex forms emerge from the iteration of simple shapes, repeated again and again with small variations. The drawing process employed here is similarly repetitive, using a very fine pencil line to repeat a simple form, growing through a process of slow accretion.
