If you’ve ever been in the Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall you’ll have seen ‘Flow’, the 30-metre long mural I made for the hospital’s central hub space. This drawing was made after I had completed that work and felt like I still wasn’t quite done with it – or it wasn’t done with me! So I kept on drawing churning waves and wild water. ‘Flurries’ was drawn in a meticulously detailed layer of tiny white circles over the green-blue background washes, to create a sense of wind-blown sea spray blowing back from the tops of waves.
